As a progressive Senior Living community in Downtown Seattle, Horizon House has much to celebrate during June’s Pride Month. Our staff Employee Recognition Team created an informative display chronicling LGBTQ+ achievements throughout history to raise awareness and increase LGBTQ+ literacy. And at the end of the month, residents and staff came together for our second annual Horizon House Pride Parade! An enthusiastic and joyous celebration, participants donned bright rainbow colors, waved Pride flags, and some residents even made cardboard signs that read, “Proud Trans Grands” and “Equality for All”. Residents and staff marched together through our First Hill neighborhood, led by a banner that proclaimed, “Everyone is Welcome Here” while singing, dancing, and receiving car honks in support.
Following the parade, residents were invited to a Pride Happy Hour and a special buffet dinner to celebrate wins for equality, commemorate the past, and encourage what is to come. We look forward to next year’s Pride Celebration!
