Horizon House Seattle is expanding with the introduction of the West Tower, a new 33-story addition to our current campus, and dedicated to senior independent living for those 62+. The West Tower will offer residents a carefree lifestyle and the full spectrum of amenities and services available across the entire community.

The essence of the West Tower is in our continued focus on fostering a vibrant community. It brings together individuals who share life’s rich experiences and have dedicated themselves generously. The West Tower will be integrated with the entire campus where camaraderie and connections can thrive. Residents will delve into artistic pursuits, champion their chosen causes, and embrace continuous learning and personal development.

The West Tower will comprise a selection of over 200 independent living apartment homes ranging from 864 to 2,193 square feet. Future residents can select from 15 unique floor plans, including four levels of penthouses, for a layout that fits their lifestyle. Apartment homes will include two bathrooms, and many that feature dens. Residences are complete with state-of-the-art kitchens, well-appointed finishes, a full washer/dryer, and large windows that augment the open concept design.

Early depositors will have the opportunity to select their interior design from three finish packages for their new home. Apartment home upgrade options are available at an additional cost and our design team will work with you to customize your home.

Horizon House is a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community, also known as a Life Plan Community. West Tower residents will have access to the full continuum of  care services—including assisted living and memory support—should their needs change.

Mithun is the architectural partner for the Horizon House West Tower expansion. A well-known and respected firm, Mithun is an award-winning leader in sustainable design known for the highest caliber work with the most professional and collaborative teams in the profession. The general contractor partner for the West Tower is Andersen Construction. For more than 70 years, Andersen has built a solid reputation in the Pacific Northwest by leading with integrity, safety, and putting the needs of clients first.

Established in 1961, Horizon House operates a single-site not-for-profit entity. Our community is goverened by a local board of trustees responsible for ensuring that Horizon House is organizationally and financially stable. It is charged with developing overall strategy and policies in collaboration with the Executive Team, who in turn oversee and manage all daily operations of Horizon House. While affiliated with the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Church of Christ, Horizon House does not adhere to any particular religion, and welcomes all faith traditions—or none.

As a not-for-profit, the Monthly Service Fees cover the operating cost of the community and work on behalf of all residents. The fee covers all utilities, maintenance inside and out of the apartment home, Internet Wi-Fi, a dining credit per person, security, access to exercise and wellness, social and educational programming, transportation and much more. Additional services are available for a fee including underground parking, guest rooms, spa and salon, and entertainment outside of the community.

Horizon House is designing the West Tower to LEED Gold Standards for sustainability. We are committed to reducing water and energy use, lowering our carbon footprint, minimizing construction waste, fostering a sustainable urban site, and prioritizing the health and well-being of future residents.

Our water use reduction goals include cutting water consumption by 30% through high-efficiency fixtures and appliances, and reducing irrigation water use by 50%.For energy use, The West Tower will not use fossil fuels for any of its systems, and the West Tower's efficiency will also reduce Horizon House's overall energy consumption. The West Tower will focus on minimizing waste during the building process by utilizing sustainable materials and recycling. These goals are part of our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact.

West Tower’s health and wellness strategies include maximizing opportunities for access to daylight and the natural environment. By integrating these elements, we aim to create an environment that enhances the well-being of the current and future residents.
