The Benefits of Working at Horizon House
Horizon House employees enjoy a variety of benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, a 403(b) Retirement Plan, Employee Assistance Program, subsidized parking and ORCA Cards, paid time off, paid sick leave, and extended sick leave. In addition, employees have the opportunity to apply for assistance from the Employee Education Fund and to participate in an in-house training program. There is a fully staffed on-site gym, with classes ranging from yoga to Zumba. At Horizon House we recognize the benefit of healthy, active employees to our community.
As part of Horizon House’s commitment to serving the broader community, employees have the opportunity to volunteer for United Way’s Day of Caring and many other community organizations’ activities.
Employees who work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision Base Plans. And, employees may also purchase employer-subsidized dependent plans. This insurance and dependent coverage eligibility begins on the first day of the month following 60 days of service, for those working 30 or more hours per week.
Life and Disability Insurance
Life and Accidental Death Benefit
Horizon House provides Group Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) to all benefit-eligible employees at no cost to them. Additional coverage is available for employees to purchase as part of their benefit package.
Short-Term Disability Income Benefit
Following one year of service, Horizon House will provide Short-Term Disability coverage to all benefit-eligible employees at no cost to them.
Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
Horizon House provides employees the opportunity to pay for out-of-pocket Medical, Dental, Vision, and Dependent Care expenses with pre-tax dollars through Flexible Spending Accounts.
403(b) Retirement Savings Plan
All employees are eligible to begin contributing at hire to a 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan. Employer contributions may begin as soon as six months after the employee participation date. With a generous match of up to 6%, Horizon House currently rewards eligible employees who participate by matching $.50 for every dollar contributed, provided their contribution rate does not exceed 12% of pay.
Paid Time Off
Paid Time Off and Extended Sick Leave accruals for regular employees begin immediately and are available for use after 90 days. Additional paid sick leave benefits are available through Seattle Safe and Sick Leave Ordinance and the Washington State Sick Leave law.
Regular employees may take up to three working days of paid leave in the event of a death of an immediate family member.

Horizon House also provides free access to an Employee Assistance Program for all employees and their families.
Employee Education Program
Employee Education Fund
Residents of Horizon House generously fund an Employee Education Fund to assist employees in paying for expenses to meet individual educational goals and personal growth objectives. Employees are eligible to apply after one year of service and must have accumulated a minimum number of hours on the job.
An employee is eligible to receive up to 75% of tuition and books for a class, not to exceed $1,500 for full-time employees or $1,000 for part-time employees. An employee may apply for funds more than once, but may only receive the maximum benefit once per quarter.
In-House Employee Training and Education Program
Horizon House is interested in your ongoing development. We offer leadership training and development to our supervisory staff. We also have an on-site training program designed to keep you up to date and informed.
Horizon House has a fully staffed gym. Employees are welcome to use this resource to schedule time for workouts or classes. The Wellness Staff works hard at providing creative solutions to move employees towards their fitness goals. Classes such as yoga and Zumba are available at a discount to employees.
Subsidized Parking and ORCA Cards
Employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for a subsidized ORCA Passport Card. Non-benefit-eligible employees and ferry users may receive reimbursement for mass transit (ORCA, train, and bus) up to 50% based on hours worked. Subsidized parking in our enclosed garages is available to employees. Fees are based on annual wages.
