Partners In Caring Benefits Employee Education Fund

Each year, Horizon House residents, their families, staff, community members, and local businesses make up the generous team that funds Partners in Caring, our annual giving program that enhances the entire Horizon House community. Partners in Caring raises money for three funds:

  • Residents Assistance Fund
  • Quality of Resident Life Fund
  • Employee Education Fund

The Employee Education Fund provides financial assistance to staff for education that goes beyond the scope of our standard on-the-job training. This month, Horizon House staff members Anna Aguilar and Sheila McGinnis shared how the Employee Education Fund has helped them.

Anna Aguilar is a single mother, who currently works as a Project Manager for Horizon House’s Renovations team. Anna loves what she does and wants to get a certificate in Construction Management from the University of Washington. Because of the Employee Education Fund, Anna will be heading back to school at the University of Washington this fall.

Sheila McGinnis has worked at Horizon House for seven years, and is a server in the Dining Services arena. With help from the Employee Education Fund, Sheila will graduate in June as a Medical Assistant.

Both are very thankful for the Employee Education Fund, and are both great examples of success through our Partners In Caring Campaign.
