Giving Creatively

Our mission leads both residents and staff to care for the community in which we live. That caring begins at home and extends beyond our walls into the broader Seattle community.

Residents, their families, staff, community members, and local businesses make up the generous team that funds Partners in Caring, our annual giving program that enhances the entire Horizon House community.

Here are the mainfunds donors support:

Residents Assistance Fund

Since 1961, this fund has been providing confidential aid to residents who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their assets. Thanks to this fund, these valued members of our community will always have a home at Horizon House.

"Horizon House is an amazing place to express my creativity."

"I never dreamed that my husband and I would need financial support. We saved assiduously for retirement and could not possibly have anticipated the cost of health care back in the 19802, when we thought about retirement. If it weren't for Residents Assistance we would have had to leave Horizon House. That would have been devastating." - A Horizon House resident

Quality of Resident Life Fund

This fund supports areas of greatest need outside of our regular operating budget. It includes the popular GEM Grant program, which funds creative projects initiated by residents and staff that enhance our community. Examples include… (need examples)

Employee Education Fund

This fund provides financial assistance to staff for education that goes beyond the scope of our standard on-the-job training.

“I want to become a nurse someday. Because of the Horizon House Employee Education program I was able to take an NAC class. Now I’m a Certified Nurse Assistant, which is a requirement to enter a Nursing Program.” — Horizon House staff member

In addition to the three Partners in Caring funds, donors have several more giving options:
