The annual fund raising effort at Horizon House, known as Partners in Caring has exceeded its goal for the year. In a real testament to our caring community, donors have come together from all walks of Horizon House life: residents, families, friends, employees, and business colleagues. We applaud all of you for helping to make Horizon House a compassionate place to live.
Earlier this year we kicked off Partners in Caring with a generous matching challenge and $67,000 in leadership gifts. As of October, Partners in Caring has soared past the goal, raising $339,000. Eighty percent of our residents have contributed! If you have not yet given, please consider doing so.
Partners in Caring supports three important funds:
- The Residents’ Assistance Fund – ensures that no resident is forced to leave his or her home due to a financial setback. As one of our donors has said, “There is no better way to lend a hand to those who have contributed much to our community, but through no fault of their own can no longer do so.”
- The Employee Education Fund – provides financial assistance for continuing education and training of Horizon House employees. This fund is a remarkable benefit for staff wishing to enhance their professional and technical expertise—and for the residents who receive their quality services.
- The Quality of Resident Life Fund –provides resources for areas of greatest need. This fund also supports the Gem Grant Program, enriching the quality of life at Horizon House. So far this year Gem has sponsored refurbishment of the E-level entryway, a self-service freezer in the Bistro, and portable stage risers for Horizon House performances, to name only a few of the projects.
Looking ahead to next year, we are fortunate to offer a dollar-for-dollar matching challenge (up to $25,000) for Partners in Caring gifts and pledges made by December 31, 2013
Cheers to you … our caring partners!
