Our beautiful saline pool and spa re-opened last month, and residents were delighted to get back in the swim, whether for aqua aerobics, laps, or a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi. Here’s what we’re hearing from residents:
“The pool is open and Pool Aerobics classes will resume on Monday @ 9:00 a.m.” That notice was beautiful music to my ears!! My mind and body missed those classes sooo much when the pool was being serviced.”
“The end of the three-month closure of the Aquatics Center is a powerful reminder of how much our pool means to us. And now it’s more elegant than ever!”
“I love our pool and especially enjoy our aqua aerobics classes. Good invigorating exercise in a setting filled with fun and an opportunity for a chat with friends as we “navigate” the pool. What a wonderful way to start the day!”
What we thought would be a quick, simple repair back in early May led to discovery of other issues. Making a long story short, we ended up doing an extensive renovation of the entire aquatic center: new circulating pumps; new pool liner and tiles; resurfaced pool deck and flooring in the locker rooms; new tables, chairs, and plants; fresh paint; and new, more efficient LED lighting, to name just some of the improvements.
We owe thanks to our friends and partners at Medgar Evers Pool, the Downtown YMCA, and the Washington Athletic Club for providing Horizon House residents with classes and lap swim times during our pool renovation. This type of exercise is so important to so many – we really appreciate your help.
