Residents, their families, staff, community members, and local businesses make up the generous team that funds Partners in Caring, our annual giving program that enhances the entire Horizon House community.
Here are the three main funds donors support:
1. Residents Assistance Fund
For more than 30 years, this fund has been providing confidential aid to residents who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their assets. Thanks to this fund, these valued members of our community will always have a home at Horizon House.
“Living at Horizon House provides me with great opportunities to give back to the community and the great city we live in. I feel very blessed to be surrounded with so many altruistic people in a community that follows its north star.”
— A Horizon House Resident
2. Quality of Resident Life Fund
This fund supports areas of greatest need outside of our regular operating budget. It includes the popular GEM Grant program, which funds creative projects initiated by residents and staff that enhance our community. Examples include:
- Print-making press for the Art Room
- Oil and water separator for eco-friendly carwashes
- Pool table equipment
- Two sewing machines for the Sewing Room
3. Employee Education Fund
This fund provides financial assistance to staff for education that goes beyond the scope of our standard on-the-job training.
“This fund has enabled me to take classes towards both my LPN and RN degrees, which I would not have otherwise been able to afford. I am so appreciative, and I really feel I am able to “give back” to the residents as well through the work I do here.”
— A Horizon House Staff Member
In addition to the three Partners in Caring funds, donors have several more giving options:
